Pet Decoded started with one maltipoo named Kimura and a lot of 11pm Google searches that didn’t have good answers — and it’s dedicated to her and to Abbey, who we lost but will never forget.
A real, operating business
Pet Decoded is built and run as a real business, based in San Diego — with standards, accountability, and a name behind it, not an anonymous content team publishing to chase pageviews. When Kimura came home, that same commitment to doing things properly — getting the details right, standing behind what we publish, treating this like something people are actually going to rely on — went into building the resource we wished existed back then: real comparisons, real pricing, no vague hand-waving.
An answer-first alternative
Most pet content online falls into two categories: generic, SEO-farmed articles that could have been written about any topic, or forums full of well-meaning but unverified guesses. Pet Decoded is an attempt at a third option — researched, specific, answer-first content that respects your time, built around real comparisons instead of vague “it depends.”
Where most people begin
What we hold ourselves to
Answer first, always
Every article answers your actual question in the first 100 words. No 500-word life story before the point.
Careful with health content
Anything touching your dog’s health is written to stay factual and appropriately cautious, and points you to a vet rather than trying to replace one.
Honest recommendations
We aim to recommend what’s genuinely worth buying, not just what pays the highest commission. See our affiliate disclosure for the full picture of how this site makes money.
Dogs first, for now
Pet Decoded is dog-focused today, with other pet verticals planned as the site grows — the same “Decoded” approach applied to cats, birds, and beyond, rather than trying to cover everything shallowly from day one.
